We know that when ordering a translation, you may have questions you need answered. We also understand that ordering services online is not always easy and can sometimes be time-consuming, especially in Spain. We highly value your time. Therefore, we have compiled a list of our most frequently asked questions. If you can’t find your question here, get in touch and we will be pleased to respond as soon as possible.
Who provides the translation service?
We are Lingua Franca, a Spanish translation company. We provide sworn and non-sworn translation services. Send us the language pair and the purpose of the document so we can confirm which service fits your request.
When is a sworn translation needed in Spain?
A sworn translation is generally needed when the receiving authority or organisation requires an official translation. In Spain, translations made by a sworn translator appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC) have official status and may be submitted to judicial and administrative bodies. Requirements still depend on the specific procedure, so check the recipient’s instructions before ordering.
Do you translate between Russian and Spanish in both directions?
Yes. We handle Russian-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-Russian requests, as well as non-sworn translation work. For another language pair, contact us with the documents and intended use so we can confirm availability.
Are an apostille, legalisation and a sworn translation the same thing?
No. They are separate steps. A sworn translation renders a document into another language and is certified by a sworn translator. An apostille or legalisation concerns authentication of a public document for use abroad. The steps depend on the country that issued the document, the destination country and the receiving procedure. Ask the recipient which formalities and sequence apply before ordering the translation.
Can I receive a digitally signed sworn translation?
Where the receiving authority accepts electronic filing, a sworn translator may certify the translation with a qualified electronic signature under Spanish rules. Confirm the accepted format with the recipient first, because a paper original or another format may still be required for a particular procedure.
Can I request a quote online?
Yes. Send clear scans or photos of every page through our contact page or by email to traducciones@linguafranca.es. Include the language pair, intended use, destination country and any deadline. We can assess the request from the files you provide; keep the original available in case the procedure or recipient later requires it.
How much will it cost, and when will it be ready?
We will send a price and proposed delivery date after reviewing all pages, the language pair, intended use, urgency and delivery method.
Who decides whether the translation will be accepted?
Acceptance is decided by the receiving body and depends on the procedure, jurisdiction, document and format requirements. We will use the instructions you provide to prepare the appropriate translation service, but you should confirm any uncertain requirements with the recipient before ordering.
